Okay, this is the next excerpt from the first chapter "Thou Shall Know Thy Self". Self analysis is everything to doing great things in life. Chapter 1: First Commandment- Thou Shall Know Thy Self
- * Go on, what happened next?
Anyway, getting past myself was the biggest obstacle. Getting back to believing in my worth, my strength, my abilities and my confidence was hard. Being released, downsized, and re-organized or any of the other nice was of saying, "you're fired!" is just a horrible feeling, especially if you've been with a company for a long period of time. It's like a bad breakup or divorce: you didn't want it; didn't expect it; and then you find out there's someone else. They hired someone else for less money, someone who's younger, someone they can mold....You can't be hurt any worse.
* You sound bitter. Did that happen to you?
What do you mean?
* The divorce thing; you speak so passionately about it.
No! No! I was just using that as an example. Anyway, at least in a real divorce you can do something. You have rights. If you're mad enough, during the division of property you can ask for the stupid dog you hated just to tic her off. Or you can ask for her favorite dishes just because you know she loves them, but you could care less about. You could fight back, get satisfaction, something! However, when the pink slip comes, usually it's on the company's terms and conditions.
* Okay, you had your feelings hurt. Now what?
You don't understand. This time was different.
